British-Spanish driver primed and ready for the 2022 Road to Indy season

SASKATOON, SK (February 11, 2021) – Exclusive Autosport is delighted to announce the return of Matthew Round-Garrido to the team for his rookie season in the Indy Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires in the #92 Corpay Cross-Border Solutions Tatuus IP-22 machine. In 2021, Round-Garrido made the switch to Exclusive Autosport in his second full year of USF2000, where he immediately hit his stride in grabbing his best career finish with a second-place at St. Petersburg. The 21-year-old had some ups and downs over the season and ultimately could not finish the season due to an injury. Round-Garrido returned to the US for the 2021 Chris Griffis Memorial Test at the end of October in an EA Indy Pro 2000 car and showed great pace. During his off-time, Matthew has been training in preparation for his first season of Indy Pro 2000. Being already comfortable with the Exclusive Autosport crew and returning teammates, he’s sure to have a successful 2022 season.

“I’m very thankful to Michael Duncalfe, Corpay, Indigo Medical, Excel Labels, and every other individual behind the scenes for this massive opportunity to step up to the Indy Pro 2000 category in 2022,” offered Round-Garrido. “Indy Pro 2000 is a category where the drivers and teams are all functioning on an extremely high level, so it’s exactly what I want as far as my development as a driver is concerned. Last year was full of highs and lows for myself but mainly full of potential, which alongside the ability of these guys to produce me a fast race car, made it a no-brainer as to who I wanted to drive with. I’m sure the #92 car will be a rocket ship this season and it’s my job to be able to unlock the potential. I can’t wait to get started in St Petersburg at the end of February!”

“It is great to have Matthew back with us for a second season, this time stepping up into Indy Pro 2000,” enthused Michael Duncalfe, Team Principal. “Matthew was a late addition to our USF2000 program in 2021. It is fantastic that we have been able to put our program together earlier for 2022 which has allowed him time to prepare for the start of the season. We look forward to kicking things off in St. Petersburg, where he podiumed with us last season.”

Exclusive Autosport will be attending the official Road to Indy Spring Training event at Homestead-Miami Speedway on February 14-15, with Round-Garrido joining his previously announced teammates Billy Frazer, Jacob Douglas, Louis Foster, and Christian Brooks. The season will officially kick off a little over a week later at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on February 25-27, running alongside the NTT INDYCAR SERIES.
